Job Summary

The VP of Development is responsible for the development and implementation of philanthropic strategies, aligned with DFSC’s strategic plan. This includes overseeing, managing, and executing fundraising efforts—including major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and grant oversight; and is responsible for identifying, organizing, and managing fundraising activities, with a focus on new opportunities to obtain ongoing and increased support from individuals, corporations, and public and private organizations.

Job Description

Essential Duties

· Work closely and effectively with the leadership team, of which you are a member, the board of directors, and committees to identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop and execute strategies to cultivate those relationships

· Create a departmental vision, build and implement the plan, and measure and report on the outcomes

· Manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors and move them through the identification, cultivation, close-the-gift, and stewardship process

· Determine who on the DFSC team would be beneficial to attend meetings with donors and prospective donors and coach them on their role

· Lead staff and volunteers on the planning, management, and execution of fundraising events, including The Fashion Show, and donor appreciation events

· Secure corporate sponsorships, in partnership with staff and volunteers, as appropriate

· Develop grant strategy and supervise grant execution

· Develop marketing, communications, and social media strategy and supervise execution thereof

· Lead, manage, and develop a team of Marketing & Communications Specialist, contract Grant Writer, Data Coordinator and work closely with Administrative Coordinator and Volunteer Manager

· Be a fearless and consistent advocate of equity, inclusion, and diversity at all levels of the organization

· Demonstrated emotional and professional maturity

· Ability to think strategically, set challenging and appropriate goals, be proactive, and take ownership of achieving outcomes

· Ability to analyze data, develop, and implement strategies for successful donor engagement and fundraising results

· Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills across diverse groups, organizations, and individuals

· Ability and willingness to advocate for diversity, inclusion and equity at all levels of the organization

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

· Measurable evidence of success in previous fundraising and development

· Ability to communicate effectively “up, down, and sideways” in the organization

· Excellent leadership and organizational abilities

· Exceptional attention to detail

· Computer competency specifically in tracking and reporting relevant quantitative and qualitative data

· Proficiency in marketing and communications; excellent story telling skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $87,500.00 - $95,000.00 per year
