(VP) of Early Learning and Family Power will provide strategic leadership for EducateNKY’s programmatic and community impact activities in the areas of early learning and family power and partnership, lead the development and expansion of a collaborative early learning ramework with community partners, and launch a family-centered, place-based strategy to move early learning and family strategies to the next level of impact. The VP reports to the President/CEO. In addition to staff, the position will interact with committee leaders, board members, donors, and external partners.

About EducateNKY: EducateNKY is a local non-profit dedicated to ensuring that the Northern Kentucky education landscape performs at a high level and meets the needs of learners and families. We have gathered a group of local leaders and committed volunteers who envision an education ecosystem that ignites every eager, vibrant mind. We are dedicated to expanding existing and new opportunities and improving outcomes for all children and their families through the exploration and adoption of innovative approaches from prenatal through post-secondary success. EducateNKY launched in March 2023 with a broad focus on serving the young people, families, and communities of Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. We have
chosen to begin the first phase of work by focusing on communities with the highest socio-economic needs, specifically the River Cities (including the independent school districts of Covington, Newport, Ludlow, Dayton, Bellevue, and Southgate).

The Vice President (VP) of Early Learning and Family Power will provide strategic leadership for EducateNKY’s programmatic and community impact activities in the areas of early learning and family power and partnership, lead the development and expansion of a collaborative early learning framework with community partners, and launch a family-centered, place-based strategy to move early learning and family strategies to the next level of impact. The VP reports to the President/CEO. In addition to staff, the position will interact with committee leaders, board members, donors, and external partners.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership/Collaboration:
• Direct and oversee the implementation of comprehensive strategy to create a coordinated journey from birth to age 5 that drives kindergarten readiness and helps parents understand their essential role in their child’s educational success, including a broad spectrum of early learning and family engagement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including families, community providers, partners, teachers, leaders, and others.
• Develop and implement community outreach plans to engage and promote public awareness of EducateNKY’s strategic plan and specifically its early learning and family engagement pillars and vision. (Start Strong, Build Skills)
• Drive innovation to implement and pilot new strategic initiatives and inspired approaches to enhance success in early learning.
• Partner with EducateNKY team to coordinate with community groups and government agencies to schedule meetings, workshops, and other events.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations to support community outreach initiatives consistent with EducateNKY’s strategic plan.
• Identify promising best practices at regional, state, national and international levels.
• Assist President/CEO in representing EducateNKY at external meetings and national conferences.
• Create support for sustainability of initiatives that will improve early learning and family engagement opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with relevant peers in local philanthropy, government, nonprofit sector, and business community that may lead to collaborations and partnerships to leverage our resources and increase our impact.
Communication/Development/Advocacy:
• Research funding sources and trends to support EducateNKY early learning and family engagement initiatives.
• Work with President, Vice-President and Board to coordinate, develop, implement, manage and support EducateNKY’s policy agenda, including state legislative action.
• Identify and research early childhood related policy issues and write advocacy materials and policy briefs.
• Contribute to content for EducateNKY’s communications, including print publications, Website, E-News, social media and other online communications.
• Manage annual financial operating budget for designated operations.
Evaluation:
• Enhance organizational excellence by establishing operational benchmarks, timelines, and resources needed to achieve strategic goals, proactively recommending and driving improvements; set standards for accountability and measurements of success.
• Oversee EducateNKY’s evaluation activities including data collection systems, longitudinal evaluation, and all contracts and activities relating to program evaluation and measurement; communicate and prepare all data collection summary reports and evaluation updates for the President/CEO, Board of Directors and funders.
• Develop and promote inclusive processes for feedback, alignment, and development of support for EducateNKY’s nonprofit and investor partners.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 10 years of professional experience, including at least five years in the social sector (nonprofit, government, corporate philanthropy, community organizing and/or foundations) at a senior leadership level with responsibility for building programs and impact. Experience in community early learning programs/initiatives preferred.
• A successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and systems, and developing an infrastructure that creates a stronger and more efficient program/organization.
• Thorough understanding of project management; able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals.
• A consummate team player with a flexible and creative approach.
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to EducateNKY’s mission.
• Demonstrated ability to break down organizational silos and revamp systems and processes to optimize alignment, integration, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• A thinker, planner, and doer with a desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong public speaking and written communication skills, including writing and editing reports, summary memoranda, correspondence, etc.
• Technologically adept – comfort, familiarity and/or ability to learn and utilize a variety of computer applications (i.e.: Microsoft Office, internet research) as well as project management systems.
• Proven track record of building trusting relationships and working effectively across different settings, communities, and issues – with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.
• Fluency with data and evaluation, including the development and utilization of metrics to assess social impact and return on investment.
• Knowledge of the Greater Cincinnati (ideally Northern Kentucky) community, including strengths, challenges, trends and the regional nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods, use a computer keyboard proficiently and access and navigate an office environment. Regular light lifting of supplies less than 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
