Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a system of operations for social services at the Neyer Outreach Center, as well as providing guidance and support to our network of volunteers across Hamilton County. Efficient training, supportive supervision, and oversight of operations to ensure programmatic and financial accountability is a key aspect of this role.  The prompt and effective delivery of service engagement and responsible stewardship are the expectations of this team member’s work. This leader must consistently model the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul. This position is an integral member of the Social Services Directors’ leadership team.

Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Program Management

  1. Oversee the administration of rent and utility assistance to our neighbors, including but not limited to overseeing the selection process, assigning cases to team members, ensuring that proper processes are followed, and that assistance is extended within budgetary guidelines
  2. Ensure adequate staffing is in place to provide prompt, responsive services to neighbors
  3. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with and effectiveness of written policies regarding SVDP assistance programs
  4. Approve or deny exceptions to policies for assistance within predetermined authorization guidelines
  5. Consider and implement program enhancements or changes to complement basic needs assistance with systemic change initiatives in conjunction with or as guided by the Social Services Director
  6. Assist with collecting, recording, analyzing, and reporting on data needed to evaluate services provided by the organization
  7. Assist with grant management
  8. Serve as team leader for special projects of the organization as assigned
  9. Maintain awareness of current community resources available to address needs presented by neighbors as well as the process for accessing them to make effective referrals and to share this information with SVDP staff and volunteers

Supervision

  1. Provide training and supportive supervision to Social Service team members
  2. Manage Welcome Room schedule with Social Services Lead for team members
  3. Ensure that assistance is provided in a holistic and relational manner within policy through sample reviews and supervision
  4. Ensure team members enter accurate data and case notes in electronic case management system for services provided to neighbors and reconcile data entry of assistance given with other records maintained by department
  5. Review electronic files and data entry to ensure accuracy and thoroughness
  6. Ensure that all team members have regular and ongoing updates about changes in procedures, resources, eligibility, etc 
  7. Consider and appropriately deal with any concerns or complaints expressed by neighbors and team members
  1. Assist in the hiring process, orientation, and ongoing training of Social Services team members
  1. Identify training needs for individual and team professional development and provide for professional development opportunities
  2. Complete periodic performance evaluations for team members

Direct Service

  1. Engage neighbors seeking assistance to holistically assess their overall situation, determine eligibility for assistance and provide SVDP assistance and referrals as necessary  
  2. Help neighbors access assistance from partner resources as appropriate
  3. Assess and respond as appropriate to needs of neighbors presenting critical situations at any time during business hours 
  4. Develop and maintain files according to organization specifications

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  A bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related fields or five years related experience required. Masters degree preferred.  Two to five years supervisory experience is required.  Strong organizational, project management, motivational and interpersonal skills; an ability to communicate well orally and in writing; and the ability to effectively relate to people of different cultural and economic backgrounds are necessary.

Work Environment:  Office Environment – Adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.

Physical Requirements:  Job duties can primarily be performed from a desk; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items up to 35 lbs; driving an automobile.
