Job Summary

The Senior and Supportive Services Assistant will work closely with other team members and volunteers to provide support for implementing programs that serve economically disadvantaged, at risk seniors.
Job Description
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with the elderly or related human service field
- Ability to work in a timely and respectful manner with diverse population in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of and commitment to the values and mission of MNM
- Capacity to problem-solve, manage multiple activities at once, work well with staff and volunteers
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, client data base software programs and other office equipment in a punctual, accurate manner with minimal oversight
- Physical abilities: reaching, carrying, lifting a minimum of 15 pounds
Accountabilities and Weighting criteria:
- Develop a comprehensive working knowledge of local resources as well as those in surrounding communities. Conduct assessment for clients in need of emergency stabilization with food, housing, benefits and the like. (15%)
- Provide direct support and advocacy to include connecting clients with community resources, visiting clients in their homes, nursing facilities or hospital; connecting clients with community resources(moved this to above); making phone calls and sending cards to clients, especially shut-ins; representing seniors at recertification and other meetings for housing, Medicaid, etc. or in medical matters; assist clients with budgeting and paying bills. (20%)
- Coordinate with other staff the planning, scheduling and implementing social events for seniors and distribution of gifts for birthday and holiday events. (10%)
- Provide support to Food Pantry Specialist in the overall operation of the food pantry and required reports. This includes working with community partners and referral agencies in order to stock the pantry with food and supplies for the clients. Assist with food deliveries. (20%)
- Assist with recruiting new clients from service neighborhoods. Support outreach to churches, schools, civic organization and individuals to recruit individual and group volunteers and facilitate positive experiences for them. (10%)
- Maintain accurate records and data files for clients per best practices regarding documentation and attend relevant community meetings as needed. (10%)
- Assist with collecting and recording service statistics into Freestore Food Bank Pantry data bases and MNM statistics and preparation of monthly program reports. (15%)
