In this position, you will perform reconciliations, prepare month-end closing, prepare for annual audit as well as other accounting functions. - Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, lease liabilities, and lease right-of-use assets.
- Prepare month-end closing entries recording unearned revenue from multiple program funders.
- Perform month-end soft close by accruing estimated care provider expenses based on averages of historical actual costs.
- Manage the accounting for fixed assets, preparing journal entries recording additions, disposals, and depreciation of property, plant, and equipment.
- Prepare for annual audit, assisting in the preparation of audit worksheets that may be required by external auditors.
- Review the monthly statements of activities, inter-company transactions and detail general ledger for any potential error and omissions. Record any required adjustment and collaborate with Accounting Specialists for adjustments.
- Oversee the preparation of all monthly accounting reporting as it relates to the Agency’s programs and work with financial Analysts to prepare financial reports as needed.
- Manage the General Ledger and ensure that it adheres to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Five years of accounting experience
- In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Basic skills in Microsoft Word.
- Experience with accounting software
- Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
