About being a Relationship Manager at Easterseals Redwood:  
 
The Relationship Manager, a position integral to the advancement team, is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing activities that increase, diversify, and sustain mid-level and major gifts from individuals for Easterseals Redwood’s programs in the service areas of Military & Veterans, Disabilities, and Workforce Development. Our team is not the typical human services advancement team; we have a team of twelve with focused roles, comprehensive onboarding, and clear portfolios that allow for success with reaching goals. This position focuses 100% on raising funds from individual donors, the largest source of philanthropic funds, to provide the capacity needed to serve more people Easterseals Redwood is a $31MM/year organization, with a target of raising $3.5MM philanthropic support this year and a goal to increase 10% per year. The Relationship Manager is responsible for actively managing a portfolio of 125-150 supporters and prospective supporters, ensuring fundraising and communications activities for mid-level and major gifts ($1,000 to $5,000+) utilize best practices and provide excellent stewardship. The goal is to secure a minimum of $200K in the first year with increases each year.
Essential and Primary Responsibilities are dependent upon the specific assignment, and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Utilizing the moves management process to manage and grow a portfolio of up to 150 donors to enhance and increase mid-level and major gifts support (including planned gifts) by identifying prospects, researching, qualifying, cultivating, asking, and ensuring appropriate donor acknowledgement and stewardship.
  • Develops strategies to (1) engage with prospective donors, (2) retain donors, (3) create clear and compelling solicitations, and (4) maintain a professionally persistent and patient boldness.
  • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and key stakeholders and build long-term relationships.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of all interactions with donors utilizing fundraising database and other tracking tools as needed. Analyzes donor data and giving trends to grow contributions.
  • Serves as a resource and collaborative team member. Attends events to engage with donors.
  • Manages change in a well-planned manner and capability to respond to change. 
  • Remains calm under pressure and with tight timelines, knowing that supporter demands can be unpredictable, and stays positive and creative when plans do not go as scheduled.
  • Possesses critical thinking and critical thinking skills with attention to detail. 
  • Makes timely and effective decisions in the absence of perfect information.
  • Demonstrates flexibility when seeking solutions.
 
 
What Easterseals Redwood needs from our Relationship Manager: 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree and/or coursework in nonprofit fundraising highly desirable. 
  • Minimum two to four years of fundraising experience with a proven track record for major gift fundraising. 
  • Experience managing multiple demands simultaneously by organizing, prioritizing competing deadlines to achieve appropriate results, and completing work accurately and timely. Proven ability to produce high-quality results in a fast-paced, purposeful environment.  
  • Experience with donor databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
