The Re-Entry Program Manager is the face of SVDP’s commitment to working with those whose lives have been impacted by the justice system. This position will work to build our community’s understanding of the impact of felony conviction and/or incarceration upon the lives of those who have been incarcerated, as well as their families and community. The Re-Entry Program Manager will work directly with those affected by the justice system to attain stability, advance in the workforce, and positively contribute in our community.

Scope of Position: The Re-Entry Program Manager is the face of SVDP’s commitment to working with those whose lives have been impacted by the justice system. This position will work to build our community’s understanding of the impact of felony conviction and/or incarceration upon the lives of those who have been incarcerated, as well as their families and community. The Re-Entry Program Manager will work directly with those affected by the justice system to attain stability, advance in the workforce, and positively contribute in our community.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer basic needs assistance to help Returning Citizens and their families/households with transportation, ID’s, rent/utilities, and other fundamental needs. Coordinate access to other forms of assistance including food, clothing, household goods, and furniture.
- Serve as a resource for Returning Citizens, connecting them with the appropriate community resources and setting collaborative goals to help neighbors plan their next steps forward.
- Raise awareness of the needs of Returning Citizens living within the SVDP service network (Hamilton County). Share information, resources, and expertise necessary for our parish-based Conferences and our Outreach Center to effectively recognize and meet these needs.
- Nurture strategic complementary partner relationships. Coordinate the work of SVDP and other related community services providers in a way that advances overall stabilization and advancement efforts. Refer Returning Citizens to other community organizations and accept referrals as appropriate.
- Connect with employers within the community and link Returning Citizens to available employment opportunities.
- Represent SVDP in community efforts to address obstacles to employment faced by Returning Citizens while providing leadership in identifying employment and housing opportunities for the same group.
- Link Vincentians with opportunities to affect systemic change in support of Returning Citizens by promoting positive advocacy and recruiting mentors. Encourage the leadership and participation of Returning Citizens in this effort.
- Interact with SVDP National’s network of Re-Entry Programs and leadership to advance the efficacy of our collective Re-Entry initiatives.
- Engage with fellow Services leadership, SVDP staff broadly, and Vincentians to achieve our organization’s objectives.
- Participate in events hosted by the Ozanam Center for Service Learning to educate participants about issues related to the criminal justice system and Re-Entry.
- Serve as a part of the team leading SVDP’s Working Better Together workforce development program, including recruiting participants, leading sessions, and assisting with administration of the program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Life experiences that likely would sensitize the candidate to issues faced by Returning Citizens will be seen as particularly valuable. Experience with community organizing and/or experience working at a social services agency is desirable. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in social work, human services, criminal justice, or related fields is preferred. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; an ability to communicate well orally and in writing; and the ability to effectively relate to people of different cultural and economic backgrounds are necessary.
Work Environment: Staff member will primarily work in an office environment – Adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. This person will also consistently move throughout the community, meeting Returning Citizens and other involved community groups.
Physical Requirements: Job duties will be partially performed from a desk. There will be intra-office navigation; carrying light items up to 35 lbs; and presenting & interacting outside of our office involving mobility by driving an automobile or accessing public transportation.
