Position Responsibilities

  • Food Pantries
    • Maintain food inventory by placing orders with vendors, purchasing food and non-food items.
    • Monitor inventory and food orders to ensure supplies are available. Pick up and plan for storage and movement of donated and purchased pantry provisions.
    • Oversee and implement food pantry policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with government regulations and health codes. 
    • Prepare and manage annual pantry budget. Design, prepare, and analyze monthly reports on food distribution, clients served, in kind donations, and other relevant reports.  Adhere to internal controls requirements.
    • Support and supervise volunteers during open pantry and mobile pantry hours; coordinate group volunteers.
    • Support, train, and supervise pantry assistant(s).
    • Pick up and plan for storage and movement of both donated and purchased pantry provisions.
    • Oversee food pantries by ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and well-organized operations.
    • Oversee and administer client database and registration of clients.
    • Monitor equipment performance, coordinate required maintenance and service.
    • Manage relationship with Freestore Foodbank; develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies.
    • Oversee operational efficiencies and best practices for pantry activities. Identify and implement creative enhancements to the program.
    • Supervise and coordinate daily operations, including stocking, filing, and data entry, sanitary conditions.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, culinary science or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • One to three years food pantry, operations, warehousing or related experience is preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in food pantry operations. Ability to develop and lead programs. Ability to train and motivate volunteers.
  • Ability to interact with staff and the public in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality. Extraordinary customer service skills.
  • Ability to develop systems and processes that build organization, staff, and volunteer capacity. Budget-management skills.
  • High level of integrity and initiative. Ability to independently set priorities and multi-task; flexibility; detail-oriented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; extraordinary customer service skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to mobile food pantries and collaborating partners.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Hours may be on Saturday or in the evenings for specific events
