Pantry Assistant
The Pantry Assistant is a part-time position that assists with the operations of the Drive Thru and Choice Food Pantry and Mobile Food Pantries, including but not limited to managing and maintaining a well-organized and inviting pantry, restocking inventory, vendor food pick-ups and maintaining vendor relations.

Responsibilities
Choice/Drive Thru Food Pantry
- Lead setup, breakdown and supervision of volunteers during drive through or choice pantry
- Monitors inventory and food orders as needed to ensure adequate supplies are available during pantry hours
- Picks up and plans for storage and movement of both donated and purchased pantry provisions
- Assists in maintaining the day-to-day activities of cleaning, stocking, filing and data entry and other relevant activities
- Assists with registering clients as needed using Oasis and TEFAP forms
- Reports/addresses any infestation/pest control issues
- Oversee and administer client database and registration of clients.
- Maintain refrigerator and freezer temperature logs
- Assist in yearend inventory.
- Mobile Food Pantry
- Supports and supervises volunteers during mobile food pantries
- Receives orders and ensures quantities ordered are correct
- Helps set up for shoppers
- Helps tear down and transport leftover food to pantry
- Supervision of volunteers and vendors
- Welcomes and thanks volunteers.
- Assigns tasks and utilizes volunteers’ skills during their shifts
- Primary Owner of one of the following areas and backup for the other two (additional responsibilities listed separately in appendix)
- Mobile Pantry Ownership and Assistant Volunteer leader
- Choice Pantry Ownership
- Distribution Center Ownership
- Other Duties as assigned or needed
Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience Required: One-year food pantry experience preferred; customer service experience a must
Required Skills and Abilities: The ideal candidate must be extremely detail oriented, have excellent computer, organizational and communication skills; and possess the ability to work effectively under pressure and harmoniously with other staff, volunteers and clients, to. The candidate must also possess the following qualifications and/or characteristics:
- Work in conditions including outside in inclement weather and/or irregular hours. Hours may be on Saturday or in the evenings for specific events.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Ability to independently set priorities and multi task
- A valued team player
- Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to be trained and qualified on operation of motorized pallet jack and lift.
