Job Summary

The Marketing & Events Manager is responsible for supporting the efforts of the Development team by creating awareness of People Working Cooperatively's mission through marketing, public relations, media relations, and community engagement. The position encompasses two key functions: overseeing marketing and communications for the agency, and planning and carrying out agency events, including its annual gala.

Job Description

The Marketing & Events Manager enhances the organization’s digital presence, functioning as the manager of PWC’s social media and digital marketing strategy and storytelling, as well as printed collateral, PR campaigns, advertising, and website management. This position will create and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns, bringing to life the mission of PWC with creative graphic design, copywriting, video/photography, and storytelling. 

For annual events, this position provides marketing expertise and oversees event logistics, preparation, and execution. Specifically, the Marketing & Events Manager will plan and execute PWC’s annual fundraising gala, annual meeting and luncheon, Emerging Leaders Board annual fundraising event and smaller stewardship events. Additionally, they will work closely with the Volunteer Involvement Program to facilitate two annual volunteer events.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Developing and implementing communication strategies, with a commitment to working collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
  2. Support internal and external communications through story banking. Oversee Identifying neighbors, volunteers, donors, and other individuals willing to share testimony of their engagement with PWC; arrange interviews and write stories to be featured in various organizational communications, including newsletters, donor appeals, Annual Report, email marketing, etc.
  3. Manage PWC’s social media and digital communication calendars in collaboration with organization’s PR agency. 
  4. Ongoing creation and design of digital graphics, marketing and event collateral materials, email and print marketing templates in line with brand guidelines and standards. 
  5. Support visual storytelling through photography and produce videos for PWC’s digital platforms.
  6. Lead updates and maintenance of PWC’s website, including simple web design, writing new copy and updating existing copy, as needed.
  7. Lead planning and execution of fundraising and engagement events, from the initial conceptual planning stage to day-of logistics. Manages gala committee. 
  8. Manage relationships with external vendors including photographers, video production teams, graphic designers, PR agency, etc. and outsource tasks and projects as needed. 
  9. Support and perform other duties for the Development Team as needed.
    Support new programs, events and initiatives related to PWC’s 2025 50th Anniversary. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant field, such as marketing, event planning, graphic design, digital engagement, journalism, communications, public relations, etc.
  2. Experience managing social media and websites for an organization. Experience working in Wix, WordPress or a similar platform is preferred but not required.
  3. Possesses great attention to detail; strong writing skills with minimal spelling or grammatical errors.
  4. Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
  5. Adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively with various constituent groups.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and preferred proficiency with Canva, PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign.
  8. Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or a related area OR equivalent work experience.
  9. Available to work event-related evenings and weekends.

SALARY RANGE:

$65,000 - $75,000
