Marketing and Communication Coordinator
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Marketing & Communications Officer, the Communications Coordinator will advance Habitat’s mission and organizational goals through communications and marketing activities. Activities will support all departments and organization functions, with an emphasis on content creation/execution, media relations, and donor stewardship.
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a member of the Development Department. Work outside normal business hours, including weekends, is sometimes required for events and to accommodate volunteers and partners.

Position Responsibilities
Publications
- Assist the Marketing and Communications Officer with the creation of content and design of newsletters and other publications.
Website, social media, and email
- Maintain and grow online presence through our website, social media, and email under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Officer
- Create and implement an ongoing content calendar
- Create static and dynamic visual content. Regularly visit build sites, classes, and ReStores to gather content.
- Assist with storytelling. Interview homeowners, homebuyers, repair participants, and other stakeholders. Capture stories through video and writing.
- Assist with SEO and search ranking
Media & Public Relations
- Assist with drafting news releases and media advisories
- Research new PR opportunities including staying current on industry trends
Donor Communications Support
- Deliver corporate sponsorship benefits in accordance with donor agreements
- Create and install sponsor signage
- Feature sponsors on social media and in publications
- Track benefit fulfillment
Events (home celebrations, special build days, Rock the Block)
- Take pictures and video at events when needed
- Assist in the design, printing, and distribution of materials both hard copy and digital
- Assist with advertising events
Support Program Recruitment and Marketing
- Manage Habitat SWAG and other branded materials for tabling event
- Assist in the creation, printing and distribution of program recruitment and ReStore signage materials
- Assist with ordering branded apparel
Brand Management
- With the Marketing and Communications Officer, safeguard the Habitat brand
- Maintain the “brand voice” in all marketing and communications and through engagement with the Habitat audience

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
- Two years of relevant experience with communications, marketing, and/or graphic design is a plus
- Valid driver license with a good driving record
- Experience in a nonprofit organization is highly desired
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations, fundraising techniques and sponsorship activation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, which transcend diverse audiences
- Exceptional story-teller and writer
- Advanced working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including
- InDesign
- Lightroom
- Premiere Pro (or similar video editing software)
- Detail-oriented with strong planning skills
- Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment and spirit of collaboration
