Cincinnati Animal Care (CAC) is a progressive, no-kill animal services organization. CAC assumed operations of the Hamilton County Animal Shelter and Dog Warden operations on August 1st, 2020. We have maintained a combined dog and cat 95% Live Release Rate ever since. Our mission is to meet the immediate needs of animals in our community through individualized care, lifesaving solutions, and temporary shelter en route to a safe, compatible home. Nearly 8,000 animals arrive at our shelter every year and we have nearly 500 animals in care at any given time. The animals are housed in two facilities in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati. We believe that lifesaving is a community ethic and are committed to an exceptional level of animal services, implementing a collaborative, holistic approach to animal sheltering and Dog Warden operations.

Primary Responsibilities: The Manager of Development is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s fundraising, with emphasis on identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders; actively pursuing and managing corporate leads; and increasing revenue through soliciting, cultivating, stewarding and retaining donors. This position will be charged with building relationships with individuals, organizations, companies and foundations; seeking out new opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships; and working closely in a shared mission with the Board of Directors, external consultant, Executive Director and staff. This person must be able to “build the plane while flying it”. They will act as the primary point of contact for funding, donations and fundraising event inquiries.
- Development Plan – Construct and implement a comprehensive Development Plan with specific timeline and dollar goals. Plan to include: Quarterly fundraising actions and targets, Quarterly solicitation mailings, monthly donor email updates, weekly contribution acknowledgements, annual grants schedule, scheduled for major contacts, sustained online giving program, donor recognition program, planned giving program, event and in-shelter sponsorships, fundraising events and annual development budget.
- Donor Data Management – Oversee the collection, organization and maintenance of a donor database.
- Management and Tracking – Establish fundraising Key Performance Metrics and tracking tools, and monitor monthly.
- Donor Development – Work with external development consultant on a plan and timeline for all aspects of donor development and recognition, including policies and procedures related to gift acceptance and donor confidentiality, revenue analysis, donor demographics and retention, wealth screening and database management. Prepare and submit bi-monthly reports to the Board, including a dashboard of key measurements
- Board Development – Work with the Board President on Board composition analysis and recruitment, onboarding and training. Work with Board Committees to integrate development aspects into all committee plans and activities. Assist in staffing Board Development Committee, including scheduling of meetings, record keeping and implementation of Committee projects as directed by the Committee chair.
- Grants – Work with the Executive Director on developing and maintaining an annual grant schedule, and seek out , manage and apply for grant funding. Set up meetings with foundations and research potential grantors in non-traditional areas of need, such as education, low-income and senior-assistance programs, domestic violence assistance and similar ancillary areas into which shelter programs can be creatively slotted or new community-based animal welfare programs can be developed to meet a specific need.
- Capital Campaign – Collaborate with Board of Directors and Hamilton County administration in development and execution of a capital campaign related to construction of a new county animal shelter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Educational Background:
- 3+ Experience working with non-profit organizations or other businesses that relay heavily on donations and fundraising
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, sales, business administration, journalism, communications or equivalent
Schedule and Availability:
- This is a 40+ hour, exempt position
- Must have availability after-hours and on off-days for emergencies, consultation, and advisement to managers and Executive Leadership Team as needed
Salary and Benefits:
- Range $50,000-$60,000 dependent on experience and skill-level
