Individual Giving Manager
The Individual Giving Manager has a key role within our Development Team. This position will focus on donor engagement, retention, and acquisition by managing a portfolio of donors. By leveraging personalized communication strategies, both digital and in-person, you will work to build long-term relationships that drive giving and enhance the donor experience, ultimately supporting the sustainability and growth of our youth development programs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for youth development, have proven experience in donor relations, and possess the creativity and drive to enhance engagement with supporters of all levels. This role will also collaborate across departments to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and ensure that our donors feel valued and involved in the work we do.
Our mission of the Dan Beard Council is to prepare youth and adults in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Through community partnerships, innovative education programs, and dedicated staff and volunteers, we strive to create a positive, lasting impact on the lives of young people across our service areas.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement & Portfolio Management
Build and maintain relationships with a portfolio of donors, primarily annual donors, using personalized communications and engagement strategies to encourage long-term commitment and giving upgrades.
Develop tailored outreach strategies utilizing in person meetings, phone, email, text, social media, and video conferencing tools to engage donors and keep them connected to the mission of the nonprofit.
Manage donor interactions and document all activities in the donor database.
Identify and cultivate prospective major gift donors, referring them to senior fundraising staff for further qualification and engagement.
Implement technology-driven strategies to segment donors and deliver targeted, impactful messaging on a consistent basis.
Annual Giving & Campaign Management
Assist in the planning, promotion, and execution of key fundraising campaigns and initiatives, such as the organization’s annual giving campaign or day of giving.
Secure corporate matching gifts and integrate them into annual giving strategies.
Coordinate logistics for fundraising events and donor recognition activities, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and donor satisfaction.
Stewardship & Engagement Touchpoints
Develop and execute engagement touchpoints and stewardship plans for key donor groups, ensuring they feel valued and connected to the work of the nonprofit.
Work closely with Vice President of Development and volunteers to ensure that major donors receive the personalized attention and recognition they deserve.
Coordinate with program staff to provide donors with updates on the impact of their contributions and the organization’s overall progress.
Collaborative Leadership & Institutional Support
Collaborate with internal teams, including district staff, volunteers, and senior leadership, to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
Act as a donor relations liaison, handling inquiries, providing program updates, and offering tailored support for donors and supporters.
Contribute to the broader goals of the organization, including youth program development, outreach, and advocacy efforts.
Assist with the development of new initiatives, ensuring that donor engagement strategies reflect the diversity and needs of our supporters.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or annual giving.
Skills:
Proven track record in donor engagement, relationship building, and achieving fundraising goals.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with donors via various channels (meetings, phone, email, social media, etc.).
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Creative problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think strategically about donor engagement and retention.
High ethical standards, including the ability to handle confidential information discreetly and responsibly.
Tech Proficiency:
Familiarity with donor management systems (Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or equivalent).
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with video conferencing tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) for virtual donor meetings and engagement.
