Reports to: Board President

The Director of Development based on the Board’s priorities and goals is responsible for the development, management and coordinating of all strategies needed to grow the base of philanthropic support needed to meet His Will Homes goals and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, manage and supervise staff and volunteers in all fundraising efforts including donor acquisition, direct mail, events, major gifts, grant writing, public relations, donor stewardship, cultivation and solicitation.
  • Integrate HWH into the philanthropic community through the establishment and maintenance of strategic relationships and lead the solicitation of corporations, foundations, faith-based organizations and individuals to enhance and increase donor base.
  • Develop, oversee, and manage the organization’s grant program, grant writing may be required.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the organization’s fundraising database.
  •  Use the HWH CRM to expand the capacity of the database to grow its usefulness in fund development activities and donor retention and recognition programs.
  • Implement direct mail and advertising campaigns with the Marketing Director to target planned and major gifts.
  • Develop and execute with the Board and Marketing Director a comprehensive marketing plan that includes events, media relations, press releases, social networking, Annual Report, website, newsletters, and branding.
  • Oversee all HWH special events and fundraisers.
  • Ensure effective communication between HWH and donors to create lasting relationships for continued benevolence.
  • Special projects or assignments as requested and/or other duties as may be assigned.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships with potential and current major individual donors, communicate the impact of the organization and make direct asks for gifts between $5,000 and $500,000 that fuel our overall operations and/or capital campaigns.
  • Build relationships with community and family foundations that award grants between $5,000 and $500,000.
  • Lead a team of 2-4 professional volunteers or interns focusing on fundraising and development who work between 5-20 hours a week individually.
  • Oversee donor stewardship through video calls, video messages, text messaging, social media posts, emails and events.
  • Manage relationships, processes and recruitment efforts for our Board of Directors and manage board-related processes and programs
  • Create fundraising programs that can be executed by HWH supporters (i.e. fundraising kits)
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Leadership Team and ensure that fundraising development is carried out in ways that align with the organization’s values, mission, vision, and strategic plan
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • CFRE Certification preferred
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)

Preferred Skills

  • Strong skills in donor management systems
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement the annual strategic development plan
  • Previous history of raising $200,000 or more annually as an individual employee goal supported by collective efforts.
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships, possesses an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • High energy and passion for HWH mission is essential
  • Development experience in a young non-profit.
  • Flexibility with job duties
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Expertise with a donor management software
  • Aptitude in working with a team to meet goals
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to grow and learn new skills.
  • Grants Management knowledge
  • Comfortable in a faith-based environment
  • Experience working with boards

Job Type: Part time

Pay: Negotiable

Schedule:

  • Typical business hours, with some night and weekend work.
