Job Summary

The United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) has an immediate opening for a Director, Finance and Accounting who will be responsible for the direct management of the finance, accounting, donor services and property services teams. Focus includes budgeting, financial reporting, planning and forecasting, grant compliance, regulatory reporting, internal controls, research and analysis and the financial support and collaboration needed across the organization for UWGC and United Way Greater Cincinnati Foundation (UWGCF).

Job Description
The United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) has an immediate opening for a Director, Finance and Accounting who will be responsible for the direct management of the finance, accounting, donor services and property services teams. Focus includes budgeting, financial reporting, planning and forecasting, grant compliance, regulatory reporting, internal controls, research and analysis and the financial support and collaboration needed across the organization for UWGC and United Way Greater Cincinnati Foundation (UWGCF).
 
Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Provide financial oversight for UWGC and UWGCF accounting and financial reporting. This includes review of accounting transactions, reconciliations with appropriate external data and reporting, as well as analysis of variances and changes.
  • Provide review and oversight of the annual consolidated financial statement audit. Review UWGC and Foundation Form 990s and state filings.
  • Responsible for leadership of the donor services function including campaign accounts receivable, billings, collections, pledge and designation processing, designation payouts, donor correspondence and preparation of related internal and external reports.
  • Responsible to recommend the external audit firm to the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance, Audit and Compliance Committee (FACC).
  • Review monthly financial statements and dashboard reporting, including variance analysis for submission to UWGC management. Review financial statement and variance analysis reports to the Board of Directors and the FACC as needed.
  • Responsible for leading and preparing the annual operating and capital budgets for UWGC.
  • Responsible for leading the forecasting of long-range strategic plans, cash flow, borrowing needs and projected revenues/expenses for the current year.
  • Responsible for banking/treasury management relationships, controls, user access and administration for UWGC and Foundation, and incorporating new automated functionality.
  • Coordinate processes and systems for accounting for various funding sources, fiscal sponsorships including compliance and reporting.
  • Perform corporate projects, such as, but not limited to:
  • Requests for proposal for banking and external auditors
    • Accounting and tax research
    • Updates on GAAP or GAAS
    • Policies and procedures revisions/updates
    • Respond to UWGC team member requests/inquiries; provide supporting documentation as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in finance or accounting, or CPA license preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, GAAS, and federal grant accounting.
  • Advanced Proficiency in basic Microsoft Word and intermediate Excel required.
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in general accounting required.
  • Minimum five years management experience required.
