Development Director, CAA

Community Action Agency helps improve lives from cradle to career. CAA is a private, nonprofit organization that offers services to low-income individuals and families in a holistic approach to help lift them out of poverty. The programs they offer include job training, housing assistance, heating assistance, entrepreneurial coaching, Head Start and Early Head Start. Through a network of employees and volunteers, CAA helps reduce poverty, increase self-sufficiency, and improve the community by providing resources for people to create healthier, better lives and achieve their full potential.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Help existing and future donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions
- Work with the VP Community Relations and CFO to develop the annual budget, and monitor departmental goals monthly
- Oversee the execution of all special events and fundraisers
- Develop content and materials for appeals, donor mailings, newsletters, donor acknowledgement, and annual reports
- Facilitate marketing and communication strategies that support fundraising such as public relations, social media, earned media, and the development section of the CAA website
- Create and present donor and gift reports for VP Community Relations, CEO, and Board of Directors
- Develop effective strategies to secure new donors, increase giving levels of existing donors and maximize donor retention year-over-year.
- Identify and build opportunities to forge community partnerships with businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions with vested interests in CAA
- Serve as support to the CAA Foundation
- Serve as the relationship manager for corporate prospects and current donors
- Work with grant manager to assist with the preparation of grant applications including research, identification, development, and response to grant opportunities
- Oversee donor database, Bloomerang, to ensure timely gift acknowledgement and maintaining donor records
- Manage the United Way Greater Cincinnati and All-Staff/employee giving campaign
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in non-profit fundraising
- Experience working with diverse populations, including low to moderate-income families
- Experience managing donor communications and marketing, annual giving, donor databases and special events
- Experience collaborating with Board members and committees to advance fundraising efforts
- Desire and ability to manage a small team of development staff in the future

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
The Director will work out of the CAA office on Langdon Farm Road in Cincinnati with some flexibility for occasional remote work.
