Development & Communications Associate
St. Vincent de Paul of Northern Kentucky is hiring a Development & Communications Associate to assist with various essential projects and tasks that support the Development team's fundraising and communications efforts and donor cultivation objectives. This position reports to the Advancement Director and will work closely with other Development team members, staff, volunteers, and Vincentians to advance the organization's mission.
The Development and Communications Associate is responsible for various essential projects and tasks that support the Development team's fundraising and communication efforts and donor cultivation objectives at St. Vincent de Paul of Northern Kentucky. This position reports to the Advancement Director and will work closely with other Development team members, staff, volunteers, and Vincentians to advance the organization's mission.
Primary/ Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Fundraising and Development:
- Process incoming funds and reconcile/coordinate gifts with the Finance Department.
- Maintain and manage donor database (Donor Perfect); duties include entering gifts, generating acknowledgment/ tax-receipt letters, producing fundraising reports and mailing lists, inputting donor notes, and tracking solicitations.
- Send reminders to donors when pledge payments are due.
- Build analytical donor and prospect reports, track progress, and manage action reports.
- Liaise with the Finance Department for monthly reconciliation and data-sharing between the donor database and the accounting system.
- Research grant opportunities, assist in writing grant proposals, manage grant applications, and develop a calendar for managing grant reporting and renewal dates.
Participate in and provide administrative support to the Advancement Director and development staff in coordinating, planning, and executing fundraising, special, and tabling events, campaigns, and other initiatives for current and prospective donors to maximize revenue.
Communications and Public Relations
- Help develop and implement a communication strategy that effectively conveys the organization’s identity, impact, and mission while increasing SVdP's visibility to donors and the public, including press releases, print and digital communications, online campaigns, event invitations, and tailored email correspondence.
- Generate and post monthly social media content and design email marketing campaigns, promoting SVdP programs, services, and fundraising events.
- Creatively elevate and regularly share stories of impact with donors to increase giving and seek opportunities to communicate impact during events, donor visits, written correspondence, digital and print fundraising materials, and the annual report.
- Assist with internal/external meetings, including supporting schedules, confirming with all attendees, preparing agendas and materials, and following up on action items as needed.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong working experience and knowledge of donor databases – Donor Perfect strongly preferred.
- Ability to think creatively and act strategically. Must be able to take initiative but willing to ask questions.
- Exceptional written, oral, organizational, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Working experience in SharePoint and Microsoft Office, as well as posting on social media platforms. Previous experience with Adobe Creative software is a plus.
- Able to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

- Minimum two years of experience in a fundraising/development role, preferably in a development office with a stewardship or major gifts program
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
