Data Scientist
The Bethesda Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for a Data Scientist. This position reports to the TriHealth Manager of Data Science & the Director of Development of the Bethesda Foundation. This position will be an integral member of the Data Science & Foundation team and will be responsible for modeling business problems and discovering business insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques to support fundraising support for Bethesda Hospitals, Hospice of Cincinnati and Fernside, A Center for Grieving Children and Families, All a part of the TriHealth system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and model structured as well as semi structured data and implement algorithms to support analysis using statistical methods from statistics, machine learning & data mining
- Utilize a diverse array of technologies and tools as needed, to deliver insights, such as Alteryx, R, Python, Spark and Tableau
- Translate business analytics problems into technical approaches that yield actionable recommendations through insightful visualizations, reports and presentations
- Design, develop, and test data automation workflows for critical foundation processes
- Perform exploratory data analysis, generate and test working hypotheses, and uncover interesting trends and relationships
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience with SQL and related data access tools
- Has experience with open source tools for machine learning
- Has experience in creating rich custom data visualizations
- Demonstrates strong problem solving, analytical & story telling skills
- Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals, support cooperation and collaboration amongst the Foundation & Data Management teams.
- Has a minimum of a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering or related fields- Doctorate is preferred
- Minimum of two-three years’ experience in technical statistics
- Proficiency in Analytics, Data mining, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Mathematical Optimization & Simulation
- Minimum required certifications: Epic Cognitive Computing, Python and Alteryx
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and professionalism in their desire to excel in a not-for-profit environment
