About City West
City West is a 686 mixed-income housing development located in the West End, Cincinnati. The property will be undergoing rehabilitation and recapitalization led by TCB and in partnership with Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority. As part of TCBs commitment to the community, we will be establishing Community Life to ensure resident success. City West is in a neighborhood in Cincinnati that has seen a lot of change over the decades, and currently experiencing increasing pressures of gentrification. It will be important for the person in this role to develop connections with our neighbors. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, entrepreneurial-minded person to build something from the ground up.
Position Description:
The Community Life (CL) Senior Manager will oversee a team of staff and volunteers to coordinate support services and programs at City West. In partnership with residents, the CL Senior Manager develops a Community Success Plan (CSP), which includes programs, activities, and partnerships necessary to support families residing at City West in the areas of housing stability, early education, youth development, community engagement & safety, financial stability, health, and resident leadership. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Life, the CL Senior Manager will:
- Supervise and mentor 2 Community Life Services Coordinators, ensuring accountability of site team for implementing the Community Success Plan, and for spending 2 hours weekly entering data in CL Connect, the CL data base system.
- Work closely with property management to identify and support residents around housing stability issues such as rent arrears, housekeeping, and other lease violations.
- Develop and implement a Community Success Plan (CSP): a CL annual work plan informed by data and residents’ input.
- Collect Community Life Questionnaire (CLQ) from 80% of 33% of residents randomly chosen to complete the CLQ annually.
- Develop and ensure the distribution of the monthly CL activities calendar.
- Maintain a clear CL schedule for the site team to know when CL is on-site.
- Participate in regular CL meetings including monthly PLACE calls, CL Managers meeting and regional CL team meetings.
- Report on progress and exercise authority as needed while managing CL programs and activities to ensure that TCB staff members, volunteers, and partner organizations are held accountable for high quality performance that increases support and opportunities for City West residents.
- Assess and report on CSP progress during Regional CL meetings with TCB corporate staff and as required by funders to fulfill grant commitments. Provide strategic guidance regarding staffing, site operations/capacity, and programming.
- Manage administrative tasks required for securing and executing contracts with providers and partners to carry out programming, including adhering to CL procedures and policies related to MOUs, petty cash, use of release of confidentiality and the resident liability waiver.
- Develop and monitor budget and activities for site and program operations, including meeting reporting requirements for all grant funded activities and managing progress towards fulfilling grant deliverables.
- Coordinate with staff to ensure effective communication between site team, community partners, agencies, funders, and TCB corporate support.
- Identify and represent TCB at important local community meetings, liaise with important neighborhood leaders to facilitate trust building.
- Represent organization in a professional and ethical manner when meeting with area agencies, funding bodies and community stakeholders.
- Keep Director appraised of issues affecting and relating to CSP progress.
- Perform other project-related duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- At least 4 years of experience supervising staff and managing a team of individuals to accomplish common goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and interest in motivating and energizing staff while implementing a multifaceted strategy that is being tested to refine the TCB model.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to: senior staff, volunteers, interns, community partners, organization donors, media.
- Ability to engage, communicate and collaborate with residents of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs that differ across cultures and to respond appropriately to these differences with residents and in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.
- Excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills
- Strong personal initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently required.
- Access to personal car required.
- Ability to analyze data to see trends and inform strategic decisions.
- Entrepreneurial, creative with an interest in guiding an initiative through uncharted waters.
- Excellent communication, organization and writing skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and be self-directed.
Education & Experience:
B.A. a minimum, Masters preferred, with skills and experience in community outreach, community development, public policy, community organizing, education, social work or a related field with 7+ years of overall professional experience.
