About La Soupe: La Soupe is the sole chef-led initiative in Cincinnati that bridges the gap between food waste and insecurity. We partner with volunteers and over 150 local grocers, farms, restaurants, manufacturers, and distributors to rescue an average of 25,000 lbs of fresh food weekly. Our team of chefs expertly transforms these rescued ingredients into restaurant-quality soupes and meals that are shared with community partners who feed the food insecure. La Soupe has rescued over 5 million pounds of food and shared over 3.5 million restaurant-quality servings since its inception. While La Soupe chefs and volunteers are addressing the immediate needs of food waste and food insecurity, La Soupe dietitians, teachers, and advocates are dedicated to creating sustainable change through our programs that educate and empower communities to waste less and live healthier.
Role Description: We’re looking for a brilliant, inquisitive, action-oriented growth leader who embodies an enthusiastic focus on driving outcomes and amplifying our brand and mission. The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for leading all of La Soupe’s marketing and communications efforts through strategic leadership, content creation and effective project management/ team leadership. This leadership position is pivotal to the development team, requiring a strategic thinker who has the ability to both work independently, and manage people and projects to accomplish the organization's goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing our organization's public image, engaging diverse stakeholders and media, supporting each program's marketing and communications needs, and driving fundraising efforts through effective marketing campaigns and supporting events, delivering with high quality on time.
Job responsibilities
- Strategy: Create and executes communications and marketing strategy and plans for organization
- Lays out calendar for key public engagements including mailings, events, and media
- Established mission-focused messaging, voice, and cadence for public posts, media, and outreach to external audiences, primarily donors
- Collaborates with development team in establishing a donor marketing and communications strategy specifically to elevate donor engagement, giving, and retention
- Branding: Responsible for organizational brand consistency
- Work with team members to regulate La Soupe’s messages and presentation, making templates, messaging, and branding available to all
- Owns the creation of all branded materials, signage, digital and print
- Social media: Owns social media strategy and execution for organization
- Create, maintain, and share mission focused messaging for all platforms including: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
- Collaborates with all programs/ department directors for content
- Manage comments and respond to inquiries made through accounts
- Drives data informed strategies to improve social media followership and giving
- Events: Supports La Soupe events through publishing information, collateral, media at event, photography, and social media follow up
- Website/ online presence: Executes the overhauls and upkeep of the La Soupe website to meet the needs of the organization within first year
- Newsletter: Set’s annual vision for and publishes the monthly newsletter, “The La Soupe Scoupe” with content as designed in collaboration with leadership
- Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the development team to create marketing materials and campaigns that drive donor engagement and support fundraising initiatives.
- Executes work thoughtful with an eye for donor communications and recognition
- Digital content creation
- Gathers requirements from all programs on digital and print collateral needs for the year, and creates a plan with them for execution
- Creates or oversees the production of all promotional video and audio content
- Responsible for maintaining recording equipment utilized by programs
- Design: Has full ownership of design needs of organization for print and digital external facing collateral, branding, and signage
- Media collaboration: Coordinates all media events with operational staff.
- Management:
- Manages Social media specialist
- Comes up with strategy to outsource work as needed through contract work, volunteers, interns, and in-kind sources to minimize organizational costs
- General:
- Produces materials that are polished and professional
- Guides the outsourcing of work as needed, budgeting and contracting work responsibly
- Ensures up-to-date accuracy of all shared statistics and information
- Creates system to house and organize information so it is available, accessible, and manageable for other team members including approved verbiage, photos, and media. Regularly update all materials to highlight organizational growth and increased impact
- Coordinates consistency across all platforms and collateral with uniform design, steady message
- Identify and engage appropriate audiences, maintain current contacts and proactively expanding La Soupe’s networks on local, state, and national levels
- Create employee HR collateral: business cards, email sign offs, photos, etc
Skills and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of communications management experience preferred, nonprofit communications experience highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing,
- communications and public relations activities
- Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines
- Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure and optimize campaign performance.
- High level of creativity and strong sense of visual design
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Proven work experience with content management and the ability to deliver creative digital content
- Excellent collaboration skills
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (specifically Photoshop and Premiere Pro)
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Google product suite (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc.)
- Photography and website design skills; experience with website build a plus
Compensation: Commensurate with experience: $50,000 - $65,000
