About Our Agency
The Hearing Speech and Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati is a non-profit agency in its 99th year of operation as a freestanding community agency that serves any person with hearing or speech problems, as well as members of the Deaf Community. HSDC has 3 offices in the Greater Cincinnati area.The Center has a Board of Directors to whom the CEO is responsible, as well as a strong cohort of certified speech/language pathologists, audiologists, occupational therapists, sign language interpreters and professionals who support the Deaf Community.
Job: Hearing Speech and Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati Board of Directors is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief Executive Officer. The Board is committed to hiring a leader with vision, enthusiasm and commitment to carry the agency forward. This person will represent the agency in local, and regional communities. This is a full-time position with a variety of responsibilities including agency planning, personnel monitoring, oversight of financial operations, fundraising, effective communication, advocacy, and collaboration with partner agencies.
Ideal Candidates Qualifications:
- Strong leadership, management, financial and organizational skills with 5+ years at senior management level
- Experience leading a long-term strategic planning process
- It is desired that the candidate knows American Sign Language or will commit to learning American Sign Language once employed
- Demonstrated success with fundraising is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work with a variety of cooperating community agencies
- Educational background in SLP, AuD, OT,PT, MBA or related field.
Key Job Responsibilities:
1) Agency planning, goal setting and evaluation
- Direct and guide strategic planning process and implementation
- Ensure that programs conform to internal and external policies, values, mission particularly through knowledge of local, state and federal regulations pertaining to hearing, speech and Deaf services
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of not-for-profit agencies
- Report to Board of Directors per all performance objectives, goals and outcomes
2) Personnel
- Lead, motivate and develop a senior management team that is actively involved in the strategic direction, operational plans and financial performance of the Center
- Hire, terminate and deploy agency personnel to provide agency services and achieve goals
- Assure evaluation of all personnel and programs on a periodic basis through Board reports and related information
- Oversee implementation of human resource policies, in cooperation with administrative team, providing a positive work environment and retention of high-quality employees
- Work with staff to plan and coordinate public relations programs to enhance public perception of the Center
3) Financial management of the agency
- Oversee budgeting process
- Participate in developing and maintaining relationships with key donors, benefactors, businesses, etc
- Review financial reports with CFO and intervene as necessary to meet budget requirements as approved by the Board of Directors
- Understanding and experience with computerized accounting system, budgets and financial data operations, third party billing, contracting, collections and cost-reporting (especially Medicare and Medicaid) is desirable
4) Fundraising
- Set goals, approve plans and follow up to ensure fund development needs are met through the development department
- Support grant writing activities of the development department
5) Advocacy and collaboration
- Participate in key meetings in the community, at hearings, events concerned with issues of persons with hearing, speech and language disorders
- Represent the Center through speaking opportunities and presentations to funders and general community
6) Agency development, expansion and governance
- Continually seek opportunities to develop and expand Center programs, both internally and externally
- Assist in strengthening the membership and effectiveness of the Board of Directors
- Experience using social media, online fund raising and marketing campaigns is desirable; willingness to learn how to use new and emerging technologies to promote the agency
