Assistant Vice President of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations
As an integral member of the Office of Development and Division of University Advancement, the Assistant Vice President of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations will work closely with the Senior Associate Vice President of Development to provide vision, leadership and creativity in expanding a comprehensive and successful program that is focused on holistic, strategic external relationships and value added, transparent internal relationships.
As an integral member of the Office of Development and Division of University Advancement, the Assistant Vice President of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations will work closely with the Senior Associate Vice President of Development to provide vision, leadership and creativity in expanding a comprehensive and successful program that is focused on holistic, strategic external relationships and value added, transparent internal relationships. The successful candidate will develop and execute strategies to increase the level of engagement and maximize the philanthropic support of Miami University’s top corporate partners. This position will also be responsible for partnering with philanthropic and private foundations in support of the mission and priorities of Miami University. The Assistant Vice President will be an outstanding leader who is self-motivated and effectively partners with a diverse group of stakeholders including faculty, staff, volunteers, corporations, and foundations.
Miami University is a public university founded in 1809 with 20,000 students enrolled in over 120 areas of study. With its close proximity to the city of Cincinnati coupled with its nationally recognized excellence in undergraduate education there is a significant opportunity to increase all measures of support from corporate and foundation partners. The corporate and foundation relations team at Miami University is significantly expanding. With the launch of the public phase of Miami’s For Love, For Honor, For Those Who Will comprehensive campaign in October 2022, a robust and high functioning corporate and foundation relations team will play a critical role in its success.
Duties/Physical Demands:
- In coordination with the Senior Associate Vice President of Development, the Assistant Vice President develops and manages fundraising strategies for presidential level corporate and foundation partners.
- Identifies, cultivates, and solicits regional and national corporations and foundations to support the mission and priorities of Miami University.
- Builds effective working relationships with the Office of Research and Innovation (OIR), the Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES), and the Office of Advancing Strategy, Partnerships, Institutional Relations, and Economy (ASPIRE).
- Provides consultation and support serving as the primary point of contact for corporate relationships for university colleagues.
- Advises and supports faculty and administrators in the preparation of comprehensive proposals, as well as valuable input concerning multiunit tasks across campus.
- Responsible for hiring and managing a team of gift officers.
- Facilitates on campus visits with key faculty members and administrators.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relative experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree; experience working in an educational setting with expertise partnering with corporations and foundations.
