Job Summary

The After School Enrichment Manager works in partnership with teachers, artists, community organizations and families to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate afterschool and summer arts programs for K-8th grade students at a Cincinnati Public School that: stimulate imagination and creativity, strengthen social-emotional competence, celebrate multi-culturalism, and draw upon the assets of the diverse school community.

Job Description

Job Overview: Kennedy Heights Arts Center will partner with the Academy of World Languages (AWL) and Community Learning Centers Institute to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate afterschool and summer, multi-cultural, visual and performing arts programs for students and their families. AWL is a PreK-8 magnet school in the Cincinnati Public School District providing a diverse cultural climate and foreign-language learning opportunities including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and English as a Second Language (ESL). Its staff and students represent over 50 nationalities and languages; and ESL students make up over 50% of the student population.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Salary range is $43,000 - $48,000 with generous PTO benefits and health, vision and dental plan. Work schedule will fluctuate dependent on programming, and may include evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with AWL teachers and staff, teaching artists, community organizations, and families to develop, plan and implement a range of fun, engaging, arts and cultural activities designed to bolster students’ creativity, academic and social-emotional learning.
  • Reflecting the school’s multi-cultural focus and using a community assets-based approach, identify cultural resources, international organizations, diverse artists and individuals in Greater Cincinnati to provide rich cultural experiences for students and families.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of afterschool and summer programs including managing the schedule, coordinating facility usage, ordering supplies, supervising part-time staff, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Develop supportive systems to ensure standards of behavior and safety are maintained; and ensure for security of the facility.
  • Recruit, train and supervise a team of part-time staff, college student interns, and volunteers to assist with program activities and support student learning.
  • Contract with individual artists and other outside providers to lead ongoing activities and/or projects in the afterschool program.
  • Prepare promotional materials and employ outreach activities to promote participation in the programs.
  • Establish and maintain close liaison with AWL families, community groups, collaborating organizations, and school personnel.
  • Track program goals and objectives; identify and/or develop measurement tools; measure and report student demographic and outcome data; and submit reports as required.
  • Manage purchasing to ensure the availability of requisite supplies and materials.
  • Monitor revenues and expenditures, discussing significant variances with administrator; assist in the preparation of grant budgets and applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in visual or performing arts, education, social work or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Four years of experience working with diverse youth in an educational or community setting
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google software
  • Proof of COVID vaccination
  • BCI and FBI background check
  • Standard first aid and CPR certificate (training to be provided)
  • Considerable knowledge of arts education, positive youth development, and social-emotional learning principles and practices.
  • Ability to plan, develop, schedule, coordinate, implement and evaluate the provision of academic, social and cultural programs which respond to community needs and interests.
  • Ability to assign, supervise, evaluate the work of and to recruit and train part-time staff, contractual instructors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents and to develop community interest and involvement in the program.
  • Ability to present ideas and viewpoints effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records, reports, correspondence and promotional material for programs.
