Job Summary
Job Summary: The Advancement Officer is responsible for developing relationships with new donor prospects while also stewarding existing donors. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Advancement, and will help cultivate new, while also increasing established major and annual giving level gifts that support Clovernook’s mission and programs. Additionally, along with strategic fundraising goals and objectives, this role will also advise and make recommendations to the Vice President of Advancement regarding communications, media, marketing and community relations.
Job Description
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donor prospects, with an emphasis on growing the number of major gift donors in support of Clovernook Center’s annual fundraising goals.
- Create specific solicitation strategies based on alignment with both donor interests and Clovernook’s strategic plan and program goals.
- Establish and develop new relationships with representatives of corporations, foundations and other organizations who display programmatic and financial support potential.
- Identify and incorporate planned giving opportunities through prospecting, marketing and outreach efforts.
- Assist the communications team to design and implement annual plan for donor cultivation through direct mail campaigns.
- Use Bloomerang (CRM) to input and track prospect and donor interactions and activities.
- Conduct all necessary prospect research.
- Serve as key partner to both internal leadership team members and external associates in creating fundraising strategies, metrics and best practices.
- Actively support and participate in appropriate community and fundraising, recognition and stewardship events.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive responsibility in nonprofit development
- Two years supervisory experience.
- Fundraising expertise with a proven record of success in securing major and planned gifts in a variety of fund development capacities.
- Ability to create and foster corporate partnerships.
- Ability to influence and engage donors and foster long-term relationships
- Experience with Raisers Edge or equivalent software
- Strong written and verbal communications skills; professional demeanor with successful presentation skills.
- Membership in American Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
- Certification as a professional fund raiser preferred.
- Excellent and proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
