The United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager to Provide accounting support and supervision for United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) and United Way of Greater Cincinnati Foundation (Fdtn).
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Accounting Support and Review
- Review weekly accounts payables runs for UWGC and Fdtn.
- Review account balance reconciliations, journal entries, and audit workpapers.
- Provide oversight and supervision for UWGC fixed assets, investments, bank reconciliations, allocations, and various receivables and payables.
- Coordinate the annual financial statements audit. Prepare UWGC and Foundation Form 990s and state filings. Serve as liaison to external audit/tax firm.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance analysis, for submission to the Board of Directors and the Finance, Audit and Compliance Committee (FACC).
- Provide year-end accounting for UWGC including donated goods and services and grant commitments.
- Prepare audit reports including the functional expense report and various supporting schedules for the audit footnotes.
- Perform corporate projects such as, but not limited to, requests for proposals for banking and external auditors, accounting and tax research, updates on GAAP and GAAS, surveys, and policy and procedure updates.
- Ensure the month-end and year-end are closed within a timely manner.
Grant Accounting
- Provide accounting and financial oversight for federal and non-federal grants.
- Provide accounting assistance with grant applications.
- Process grants by (1) reviewing grant documentation including application, budget, award letter(s), specific grant requirements, etc. and (2) communicating with grant manager and other parties as appropriate.
- Research and review OMB circulars and other regulations associated with federal and non-federal funding to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Maintain finance/accounting infrastructure and processes necessary for ongoing grant monitoring/reporting, including preparation and application of approved federal indirect cost rate.
- Provide training and technical support related to grants, including maintenance of grant policies/procedures, providing sub-recipient training, acting as a resource to grant managers and other UWGC departments, agency partners and sub-recipients related to compliance requirements.
- Provide ongoing grant monitoring/reporting in compliance with grant requirements including drawdowns, review of budget vs. actual expenditures, non-federal matches, sub-recipient monitoring, and formal grant reporting to funders as required.
- Coordinate the A-133 and other audit requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are two direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in accounting is required.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS)
- Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Word and intermediate Excel.
- Minimum two-three years’ management experience required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
- Occasional local travel to events within the regional area.
- Extended viewing of computer monitor.
ANNUAL SALARY: $74,000
