Accountant (SND)
The Full-time Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accountability of the organization. This position will be responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for the Ohio Province of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, ensuring that the organization operates in alignment with its mission and values. The Full-time Accountant will provide support to the CFO in budget management and financial analysis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Ohio Province.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting principles (GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards).
- Prepare and present financial reports to the CFO, Leadership Team, and Board of Trustees.
General Ledger Management:
- Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets.
- Monitor budget adherence and provide variance analysis to department heads.
- Assist CFO with forecasting financial trends based on historical data and current economic conditions.
Audit and Compliance:
- Assist with annual audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Implement and maintain financial internal records to safeguard organizational assets.
Taxes:
- Prepare 1099s, W2s and tax returns for Members.
Team Collaboration:
- Assist members (Sisters) of the Ohio Province with financial matters.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Finance Department.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to streamline accounting processes and improve documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to Finance staff as needed.
- Support the organization’s mission by participating in various meetings and committees.
Other Duties as Needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in accounting, with at least 1 year in a senior role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Ohio Province.
